Resonances

Resonances is built out of folds, long, ribbon-like waves of colour that catch the light the way silk or rolled paper does, each ridge picked out with a thin line of gold. Warm reds, oranges and yellows do most of the work, with pockets of purple, green and magenta breaking in at the edges where the folds change direction.

What I like about this one is how physical it looks without being physical at all, it has weight and sheen, like something you could run your hand along, even though none of it exists outside the frame. The folds never stay still. They ripple, gather, release, the way sound does when it moves through something solid.

This served as the direct inspiration for the title. A resonance is a vibration that finds the right shape to travel through and keeps building on itself. I wanted the video to feel like watching that happen to colour instead of sound, the same wave, over and over, never quite identical twice.

Resonances (2025) is a 2:06 AI-assisted video by Giorgio Gerardi with an original soundtrack.
